Medical director and cosmetic dermatologist,Dr Poonam Negi give some latest tips for non surgical lifting of face and body contouring without pain and downtime
Worried about the bags under your eyes or the lines appearing on your face, but unwilling to go under the knife or apprehensive of the ‘stiff smile’ a Botox injection could give you? Then, go for a non-surgical facelift, a procedure said to be minimally invasive. At SKINTECH STUDIOZ we have introduced a non-surgical facelift, which is done using fine threads — a procedure that takes 15-45 minutes. Only three doctors are trained in the procedure in the entire country, with the other two practising in Delhi. Earlier, facelifts using threads were conducted in an operation theatre because the needle and the thread were thicker. After the procedure, the thread would remain under the skin and you could even feel it. The thread, made of Polydioxanone (a re-absorbable material), is used for the procedure. “The thread, which is sourced from South Korea, works by creating a support system within the skin and holds up the loose skin. In 3 to 4 months, the thread gets absorbed into the skin.” Though the results are expected to last for 6 to 12 months, a second session is recommended after six months, which would last up to two years. Despite having started offering the procedure only in October this year,we have alredy treated 14 patients . The procedure is minimally invasive, fast and leaves no scars. “The blood loss is minimal and results are long-lasting. The facelift can be done on different parts of the body. It also improves circulation in the small blood vessels.” Kalpana (45), who underwent the treatment at SKINTECH STUDIOZ said, “Earlier, I had undergone a facelift at another hospital. It was a surgical procedure which required hospitalisation for two days and cost over Rs 1 lakh. There was a lot of swelling, which remained for one and a half months.” Kalpana underwent the treatment a month ago and she didn’t tell her friends. “They think I am using a special cream that makes my skin look younger. The procedure cost me just Rs 15,000,” she said. The procedure is charged according to the number of threads used. Each thread costs Rs 2,500. For a lower facelift, 20-30 threads are used. For eyebrows, 8-10 threads are used and the jowl area, 8-12 threads, in SKINTECH BUT NOT RISK-FREE The risks involved could be bruises, infection or imbalance in the facelift. However, said bruising is rare because the procedure is superficial. “In case of an eyebrow lift, there could be some bruising but it will heal within five days. Infections can be treated with antibiotics. If the person conducting the procedure is not trained properly, there might be some imbalance, which needs to be corrected.
